What is a Certified Recovery Mentor?

Recovery mentors are staff members who have experienced a variety of challenges similar to the people they serve and have decided to share their success and knowledge by becoming a Certified Recovery Mentor. They are here to support you through the process and help you find the resources and support you need. Certified Recovery Mentors are certified through the Addictions Counselor Certification Board of Oregon. Currently we have over 30 Certified Recovery Mentors across four counties.

At Bridges to Change

We are committed to giving each of our mentors strong clinical supervision and training. We aim to support all of our mentors with ongoing education about ethics, boundaries, communication skills, cross-cultural competencies, motivational interviewing skills, resource referrals, the variety of recovery pathways, and trauma-informed practices. We encourage our mentors to become peer trainers in areas they are passionate about and have experience in, such as:

  • RentWell
  • Moral Reconation Therapy (MRT)
  • Wellness Recovery Action planning (WRAP)

We fully support our mentors in gaining all appropriate certifications they are eligible for in this quickly-growing field of professional peer support.
